The Archdiocesan Youth Employment Services (AYE) of Catholic Charities of Los Angeles, Inc. provides over 2,000 less privileged youth and adults with job training, educational and career services each year. An additional 2,500 youth and adults receive referral and job placement assistance through an extensive network of employers and community organizations.
AYE has operated federally funded job training programs since 1965 when it was asked by the U.S. Department of Labor to participate in the War on Poverty. Since then, AYE has served over 180,000 disadvantaged young people. AYE has proved a viable provider of public services by exceeding the local Workforce Investment Board (formerly Private Industry Councils) performance standards. This is accomplished by partnerships with many firms such as Bank of America, FedEx-Kinko, and the Automobile Club of Southern California.
AYE has field offices in Central, South and East Los Angeles and serves some of the poorest neighborhoods in Los Angeles. Our workforce services include direct placement with full-time and part-time employers, no cost vocational training in high growth sectors, paid internships, ontaining a high school degree or equivalency, and supportive services.
AYE collaborates with many organizations which include the Los Angeles Trade Tech College, Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), Bresee Foundation, Covenant House, Marriott Foundation, and the University of Southern California. These partnerships allow us to share information and resources to promote a comprehensive youth delivery system. These programs are vital in helping young people prepare for America’s future workforce.
